As SPC is ILISA’s official School of Record, all Spanish language courses successfully completed here are eligible for direct credit transfer to both private and public colleges and universities across the United States.

Ready to Immerse Yourself in Spanish and Discover Costa Rica?

Enhance your Spanish skills and experience Costa Rica’s natural beauty in this three-week intensive immersion program in San José! Live with a welcoming Costa Rican family, take daily lessons with native-speaking instructors, and engage in local cultural activities organized by ILISA.

Explore San José’s vibrant culture and rich history while participating in exciting daily activities. Enjoy weekend excursions to stunning volcanoes, majestic waterfalls, and breathtaking beaches. Plus, a visit to a traditional coffee plantation is part of the itinerary.

Classes are available at all levels and are taught by experienced professors five days a week. The three-week ILISA program includes 20 language lessons focused on developing functional communication skills.

In addition to language instruction, the program features cultural activities such as cooking classes, dance lessons, museum visits, and more. These enriching experiences not only enhance language proficiency but also deepen your understanding of Costa Rican culture.

Available courses: Students are required to enroll in at least one course from the list below. Please note that while you cannot fulfill the two-semester foreign language requirement within the three-week program, you have the option to extend your stay for an additional three weeks to complete a second semester.

• SPN 2240 Spanish Conversation and Comp I, 3 credits
• SPN 2241 Spanish Conversation and Comp II, 3 credits

Spanish immersion provides you with the opportunity to attend daily classes conducted entirely in Spanish, adhering to our principle of “no English in the classroom.”

• Cost for 3 credit hour courses (3 weeks)
• Cost for 4 credit hour courses (3 weeks)

The three-week program includes:

• Tuition for 3 or 4 credits, depending on the course
• Airport pick-up and drop-off
• Excursions to Poás Volcano, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, Doka Coffee Plantation, and a tour of San José
• A trip to Irazu Volcano and Orosi Valley
• 21 days of homestay accommodation, including two daily meals and laundry service
• Transcript sent to your home institution
