Earn College Credits While Studying in Costa Rica!

Are you a college student looking to earn university credits while experiencing Costa Rica? ILISA offers an incredible opportunity through our partnership with St. Petersburg College (SPC). Upon successful completion of your course, you can receive transferable university credits to both private and public colleges and universities across the U.S.

Program Schedule

Our courses are available year-round, with new sessions beginning the first week of each month. Whether you’re joining for a three-week immersion or a longer summer session, we’ve got flexible options to fit your schedule.

Program Highlights

• Spanish Immersion: Engage in daily classes conducted entirely in Spanish, following our “no English in the classroom” principle.
• Cultural Activities: Immerse yourself in Costa Rican culture with exciting excursions such as visits to Poás Volcano, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a traditional coffee plantation, and city tours of San José.
• Homestay Accommodation: Live with a welcoming Costa Rican family for an authentic experience, including two daily meals and laundry service.

Courses Available

You must enroll in at least one of the following courses (note: students cannot complete the full two-semester foreign language requirement in the three-week program, but you can extend your stay for additional credit).

• SPN 1120 – Elementary Spanish I (4 credits)
• SPN 1121 – Elementary Spanish II (4 credits)
• SPN 2200 – Intermediate Spanish I (3 credits)
• SPN 2201 – Intermediate Spanish II (3 credits)
• SPN 2240 – Spanish Conversation and Composition I (3 credits)
• SPN 2241 – Spanish Conversation and Composition II (3 credits)

Program Costs

• 3-week program: Includes tuition for 3 or 4 credits, airport pick-up and drop-off, excursions, homestay accommodation, and a transcript sent to your home institution.
• Cost for 3 credit hour courses (3 weeks)
• Cost for 4 credit hour courses (3 weeks)
  (Additional administration fees may apply to your home institution.)

Summer Program Extension: Stay an additional three weeks to complete a full academic year of Spanish and earn even more credits.
