ILISA’s Cultural Activity Program FAQ

  1. Do you offer a cultural activity program?
  2. What types of activities does the program include?
  3. Are there evening activities?
  4. Is there any other important information about the activities?
  1. Do you offer a cultural activity program?

Yes, every week we organize a variety of activities and lectures to enrich your learning experience. These sessions offer additional opportunities to practice Spanish and to deepen your understanding of Costa Rican culture. Topics cover Costa Rican and Central American history, environmental issues, society, and traditions, providing a well-rounded perspective on the region.

  2. What types of activities does the program include?

Our program includes a variety of enriching activities and classes, all included in the course cost. Highlights include Latin dance classes, visits to cultural landmarks such as the National Museum and National Theater, and a Costa Rican cooking class. Additionally, we offer engaging lectures on topics like Costa Rican history, economics, the role of women in society, the national park system, and non-verbal communication. We also feature several movie presentations to enhance your understanding of the language and culture in an enjoyable and interactive way.

  3. Are there evening activities?

Yes,  we host a Happy Hour at a nearby bar, providing a relaxed environment to socialize and practice your Spanish with fellow students and teachers. For more nightlife options, check with other students, teachers, or explore the Viva section of La Nación (the local newspaper), which features up-to-date news and events about San José’s vibrant nightlife scene.

  4. Is there any other important information about the activities?

Activities typically begin in the afternoon, no earlier than 3:15 PM, ensuring that all students, including those with afternoon classes, can participate. While all activities are optional, we may occasionally ask you to sign up in advance to help us estimate attendance and prepare accordingly.
