Why is it important to know Spanish as a psychologist?
Why Spanish? Well it is in the list of the three most spoken languages in the world together with English and Chinese. Also, the Hispanic population in the US keeps on getting bigger and bigger each year.
People go to visit a psychologist when they need someone to talk to or have an issue they want to address. Trust is in this case very important for the patient in order to be able to express their issues and feel comfortable with you. If English is somebody’s second language it can happen that a patient does not find the correct words and then it is good if you understand and speak (a little bit of) Spanish.
This is also important for the cultural aspect, because all cultures are different and if you understand another culture you can more easily help a person with the issues at hand.
You can consider the following programs: Group 4 Plus or One-on-One classes.
